opensparc.net is a great idea/site. To be a full hit it needs to add all the info to create a 100% clone of te T1000 recently announced. If Sun managed to do this, they will have both, a 100% open source OS and a 100% open source hardware... it will be dificult for Linux to beat this combination.
If the real spirit behind Linux/GPL is to be able to be Freedom (Free is the exact word, but there's the obvious "free as in beer" problem), then Sun is the only choice, due to Linux beeing tied to a propietary architecure as x86 (Google for "Intel sues AMD" and you will understand why x86 is propietary).
